چکیده

Hershberger' raised the question of xvhether a multiplicit>. of resonances had been observed in radio reflections from meteor trails at frequencies near the plasma frequency similar to those observed from positive columns in the laboratory. Nolv that a theoretical description of the process leading to the laboratory observations is available2 one can determine whether such resonances might be observable. The theory requires a non-uniform distribution of electron density and it seems from experimental evidence that the appropriate boundary condition is zero space charge perturbation at the periphery of the plasma ~olumn.~ Thus i t may be tha t the dlffuseness of a meteor trail with electron number density varying as R =no esp ( -f/ro)2 causes an absence of subsidiary resonances. On the other hand the dispersion relation which gives rise to the waves

Fast RCS Pattern Fill Using AWE Technique - Antennas and Propagation, IEEE Transactions on

An extrapolation technique is adapted to predict the monostatic radar cross-section (RCS) pattern from a few pattern value calculations. This approach eliminates a need to resolve the system when an iterative solver is employed. A three-dimensional application is considered to demonstrate the accuracy of the technique.

A Dual-Polarized Slot Antenna for Millimeter Waves - Antennas and Propagation, IEEE Transactions on

We describe a new dual-polarized slot antenna to be used with quasi-optical devices such as superconductor-insulatorsuperconductor (SIS) mixers at millimeter and submillimeter wavelengths. The radiation and impedance characteristics of the antenna were obtained from a moment-method calculation. The antenna has an excellent radiation pattern, a low impedance, wide bandwidth, and low cross polari...

Analysis and Processing of Ultra Wide-Band SAR Imagery for Buried Landmine Detection - Antennas and Propagation, IEEE Transactions on

Experimental and theoretical results are presented for ultra wide-band (UWB) synthetic aperture radar (SAR) signatures of buried anti-tank and anti-personnel mines. Such are characterized by resonancelike peaks as well as valleys, across the 50–1200 MHz bandwidth considered. Consequently, frequency subbanding is used to highlight one target over another, of application to discriminating targets...
